— The Stakeout —

The legendary Taos hideaway of desperados and outlaws — like Billy the Kid — The Stakeout at Outlaw Hill is reborn as New Mexico’s premier venue, a reprieve from modern life, and an iconic location for ceremonies and celebrations.

Perched atop Outlaw Hill, at 7,200 ft., we offer an intimate setting and at a legendary venue. The Stakeout overlooks the Rio Grande Gorge and Taos, New Mexico with sweeping views of the same mesas and Sangre de Cristo Mountains that captured the heart and imagination of Georgia O’Keeffe.

An event at the Stakeout delivers on both a romantic and historic private setting with world-class support staff lead by Cecilia Cuff.

From The Stakeout, one can see the Mesa Pedernal, 80 miles to the south, as well as Tres Orejas, Cerro, San Antonio, Picuris, and Taos Mountain. An “interested eye” can see the Gorge Bridge, which leads to Tres Piedras and the town of Carson, named after the most famous trapper, adventurer, and Indian Scout to explore Northern New Mexico.

The vantage of Outlaw Hill provided ample cover for the desperados and on-the-lam types who came here to rest and keep a lookout for approaching lawmen or adversaries coming from any direction.

Much later, in the 1970s, many locals and celebrity types frequented the site when The Stakeout was home to a beloved restaurant and bar.
